Worck for the kids is very hard. It is like they are slaves. They are treated badly until Iqbal arrives.When he first gets there he is chained to his loom but not because he is a Numskul I believe it is because he tries to run away a lot.
the slaves had been working hard then boom the new boy had walked therw the door and got the worst coment ever when you work you go like crazy but he can be hard headed
A girl who was influenced by Iqbal told about how her life went every day and how it was awful what they had to do. Then Iqbal came and he already surprised her because he acted like he wasn't scared of the master Nor was he scared of what the master could do to him and everything else.

Fatima talks about when she went to the carpet factory, the numbskulls and what would happen if she went outside. She tells us how everyday one Rupee would be erased from her slate. At the end of chapter 2 Iqbal comes and they notice how good he can weave.
The first part of the book is its telling you about their lives and about their master and how they live and then it talks about how Iqbal comes in and he is a very good worker and it is telling the readers about his life and how he worked very hard.

I think the book was very sad that the children had to pay off the dibt of there familes and you can tell iqbl is not a numskull.
