Dear Fifth Grade Families,
It is my pleasure to welcome you and your child to fifth grade at our Elementary. This year promises to be exciting learning with positive, successful experiences. Your child will develop more independence along with greater responsibilities in preparation for his or her transition into middle school.
I invite and encourage you to be an active participant in your child’s education. Please, hold discussions with your student about their day and their learning. Students love to share their success and may ask for guidance. All parents are welcome in our class. Assignments, information, upcoming events, progress checks, and communication will either be sent home with your child, available on your student’s Google Drive, available on our classroom and grade level websites, or through email. Please, ensure you check these things periodically and get into the routines with our students.
I encourage all students to be the best they can be. I believe that this is their education, and it requires effort to reap rewards. I start and end the year with the philosophy that this is the only time they will be in fifth grade, and I do my best to make their experience challenging and fun. I do expect each student to work to the best of their ability. It is also an expectation that they complete their assignments in a manner which reflects care and pride in their work. At least twenty minutes of reading and twenty minutes of math practice is required each night. It is an expectation that our students bring their Chromebooks fully charged each day.
If you need to reach me, email is best [email protected].
Sincerely,
Mrs. Schnorr
